Version History: ---------------- 2000-08-06: v2.00 This freeware version released Introduction to Twizla ---------------------- Please read this document carefully before running Twizla. Twizla creates visual displays with dynamic, pulsating colours and accompanying sound. Various preset displays are provided, together with an editor for creating your own displays. Twizla is intended for recreational use, and no medical or mental benefits or effects are claimed for it. However, the audio and visual effects are created using frequencies in the ranges used to classify the various states of electrical brain activity (beta, alpha, theta and delta). Some users may therefore wish to experiment with the program as a tool for so-called brainwave rhythm "entrainment", the use of an external stimulus to encourage brain activity at specific frequencies. The author has no particular views on the merits or otherwise of "entrainment" and makes no claims for Twizla in this regard. Before running the program please be aware that it should not be used if you: 1) have ever suffered from any form of seizure disorder or epilepsy, 2) have suffered serious head injury or concussion, 3) are taking psychoactive drugs (tranquillisers, stimulants etc.), 4) are sensitive to bright or flickering light. Please also note that Twizla can produce an audio output called a "binaural beat". This is the simulation of a low frequency signal by playing slightly offset audio tones to the right and left stereo channels. This output is designed for headphone listening at very low volume. Playing the binaural beat through loudspeakers, or at high volumes, can at best be annoying to others and at worst may damage your speakers or your hearing. On loading, Twizla will be set up to play one of the preset programs. Clicking the "Play" button on the Controller (or pressing the space bar on your keyboard) will start the display. ----------------------------------------- ReadMe.txt last updated 6th August 2007
